Apple Releases OS X 10.8.5 with mail, Wi-Fi, Xsan and Open Directory

Apple released OS X10.8.5 as a free update to all Mac users to run mountain lion. Weigh updates, can be found in the App Store “Update tab.

From the release notes:

• Fixed an issue that may prevent e-mail message

• Increased AFP file transfer performance over standard Wi-Fi 802.11ac

• Solve problems that may prevent the screen saver starts automatically

• Xsan reliability improved

• Improved reliability of Ethernet transport large files,

• Improve performance, open the directory server for authentication,

• Solve problems, prevent smart card to unlock System Preferences preference pane

• Contains the MacBook Air (2013 mid) Software Update 1.0 improvements include

Mountain Lion is the ninth and final Apple’s “cat” OS version. At WWDC in June Apple announced the OS X10.8 successor will be known as “Maverick” in California’s famous surfing resort nod. Mavericks is due this fall.
